The Ongole Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered a case against Darsi Municipal Commissioner for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The ACB officials on Saturday conducted raids on the properties of Municipal Commissioner Yadala Maheswara Rao and his relatives in Darsi, Sattenapalli and Narsaraopeta. During the searches, police reportedly seized documents pertaining to nine house sites, two flats, 89 cents of agricultural lands, cash, gold and silver ornaments, a car and other valuables. Mr. Maheswara Rao was appointed as bill collector in Municipal Commissioner department on compassionate grounds in 1998 and was promoted as Junior and Senior Assistant and later as Revenue Officer. He has been working as the in-charge Municipal Commissioner of Darsi Municipality in Prakasam district for the last three years. Meanwhile, ACB officials said that further investigation was under way.
