Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran has appointed senior officials for each zone to address growing garbage accumulation. Officers will conduct daily inspections from 7 a.m. to ensure timely collection and disposal. In the North Zone, Deputy Commissioner Sultana is the coordinating officer, and Deputy City Engineer Elangovan is the in-charge officer. In the Central Zone, Deputy Commissioner Kumaresan coordinates operations, with Town Planning Officer Rajasekaran as the in-charge officer. The South Zone is overseen by City Engineer Vijayakumar as coordinating officer and Assistant Executive Engineer Ezhil as in-charge officer. In the West Zone, City Health Officer Mohan is the coordinating officer, assisted by Corporation Education Officer Gunasekaran. The East Zone has Assistant Health Officer Boopathy as coordinating officer and Assistant Executive Engineer Yogachithra as in-charge officer. The removal of street garbage bins, door-to-door collection, installation of CCTV cameras at hotspots, and imposition of fines on those dumping waste have helped the Corporation maintain cleaner streets, but the practice has not been completely eliminated. The initiative is aimed at streamlining waste management operations ahead of upcoming elections and restoring the city’s sanitation standards. Residents have been urged to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness across the city.
