A little over 11.66 lakh people in Kerala have applied so far for enrolment after the publication of the draft electoral roll under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) on December 23, 2025. The deadline for the claims and objections period ended on January 30 in the State.

The total number included 10.18 lakh applications filed through Form 6 and 1.47 lakh applications through Form 6A, according to data released by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (Kerala). Form 6 is for new voters, while Form 6A applies to overseas electors among Indian citizens. These are in addition to 3.72 lakh Form 6 applications and 32,925 Form 6A applications filed prior to the publication of the draft roll.

“All claims, objections, and applications received during this period will be scrutinised and disposed of in accordance with the prescribed procedures, and approved applications will be incorporated in the final electoral roll to be published on February 21,” CEO (Kerala) Rathan U. Kelkar has said.

Citizens can continue to submit applications/forms even after the January 30 deadline. Such applications will be disposed of only after the publication of the final electoral roll on February 21 and eligible voters will be included in subsequent updates of the electoral roll through a supplementary list.

On Thursday, the CEO’s office announced that 9,868 people had been excluded from the rolls. This included 1,441 people who had passed away during the SIR enumeration phase, 997 individuals who had relinquished Indian citizenship and 7,430 who had shifted to other States or constituencies.

LDF protest on February 2

Meanwhile, the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) has announced demonstrations on February 2 alleging that ineligible voters have been squeezed onto the rolls while eligible voters stand excluded. Protest marches will be taken out to the CEO’s office in Thiruvananthapuram and district-level election offices, LDF convener T.P. Ramakrishnan said.

The LDF has demanded that a period of two weeks be announced for filing complaints/grievances after the final roll is published on February 21. “Activities related to the voter rolls are to be undertaken transparently, not in a private or secretive manner,” Mr. Ramakrishnan said.
