Fuel surcharge will come down to 4 paise per unit for bimonthly-billed electricity consumers in February, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) said on Saturday (January 31, 2026). For monthly-billed consumers it will be zero. The surcharges were respectively 7 paise per unit and 8 paise per unit in January. Fuel surcharge is collected from electricity consumers under an automatic cost-recovery mechanism permitted by the Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (Terms and Conditions for Determination of Tariff) (First amendment) Regulations which came into effect in 2023.
