The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) Council on Friday approved construction of a new cement concrete access road at the Kodungaiyur dumping ground. The project, estimated at ₹3.74 crore, is designed to provide access to the Integrated Waste to Energy Plant (IWEP) facilities. The decision follows a consultative meeting held by the Commissioner on December 3, 2025, where instructions were issued to link the water-logging area near Gate 1 (B Canal) with the main road. The estimates were prepared based on the 2025-2026 office schedule of rates. Technical sanction for the work was granted on January 27, 2026, the resolution said.
