A woman sustained severe injuries after being attacked by a pet dog during her morning walk in Teachers Colony, H.S.R. Layout, on January 26, Monday. The incident occurred around 6 a.m. on 13th Cross Road. According to the FIR registered at the H.S.R. Layout Police Station, the victim, Shalini Dubey, was mauled by a dog owned by a local resident, Amaresh Reddy. The complaint, filed by the victim’s husband, stated that the dog attacked with such force that Shalini was knocked to the ground. She suffered bite injuries to her face, hands, and legs, resulting in heavy blood loss. The attack was captured on the CCTV camera installed at the victim’s house. In the footage, an unleased Great Dane is seen charging towards the woman. As she fell, the dog started biting her head and neck. The family prioritised medical treatment, due to which there was a two-day delay in lodging the police complaint. The FIR was formally registered on the evening of January 28, Wednesday. Police have booked the dog owner under Sections 117(3), 125, and 291 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The complainant alleged that although Reddy was holding the dog at the time of the incident, he failed to restrain it, amounting to negligent conduct. The victim is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Further investigation is underway.
