The Ramakrishna Mission will inaugurate the Vivekananda Human Development Centre at Gandhi Nagar in Vijayawada on February 1. It aims to provide value-based training, personality development and ethical leadership education, especially for youth preparing for UPSC and other civil services. Programmes will include meditation, yoga, mental discipline, communication skills and moral education, along with guidance to address challenges such as mental stress and digital addiction. The six-storey facility opposite Shailaja Theatre will be inaugurated by Ramakrishna Mission president Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, with former Vice-President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu as the chief guest. The inauguration coincides with Magha Purnima and the birth anniversary of Swami Adbhutanandaji Maharaj. The centre was built at ₹8.5 crore and has classrooms, a library and a book stall, guest rooms, a temple, dining facilities and cafeterias. Mission officials said the facility is modelled after the Hyderabad Ramakrishna Mission’s Human Excellence Centre, which has trained over 18 lakh individuals during the past two decades. A yuva sammelanam (youth conclave) will be held in the afternoon, with interactive sessions with senior monks from Ramakrishna Mission centres in Hyderabad, Karnataka and Kadapa. Cultural programmes and a memorial meeting in honour of Swami Ranganathananda will conclude the day. The Vijayawada Ramakrishna Mission, which is celebrating 25 years of service, said the centre will contribute to the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ by nurturing disciplined, value-driven and socially responsible youth.
