Three get life term for murdering college student in Srirangam

The Principal District and Sessions Court in Tiruchi on Thursday convicted and sentenced three history sheeters to undergo life imprisonment for murdering a college student in Srirangam in August 2024. The court imposed ₹1,000 each as fine on the accused P. Vijay, 25, M. Suresh, 27, and R. Navinkumar, 25.

The history sheeters along with three juveniles had picked a quarrel with the student who hailed from Viralimalai in Pudukottai district near the Geethapuram bathing ghat in Srirangam during Aadi Perukku on August 2, 2024. 

The three accused allegedly attacked the student with logs killing him on the spot. The Srirangam police registered a case of murder and arrested the three. The three juveniles were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board here. 

A chargesheet was filed against Vijay, Suresh, and Navinkumar at the Principal District and Sessions Court which sentenced each one of them to undergo life imprisonment. The chargesheet was filed at the Juvenile Justice Board against the three juveniles and the inquiry was on, a police press release said.
