Chairman of Tamil Nadu Sanitation Workers Welfare Board ‘Tippampatti’ V. Arumugam distributed welfare benefits to sanitation workers of Cuddalore Corporation at an event held here on Thursday. Mr. Arumugam said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had ordered for allocation of ₹20 crore to the board for distribution of welfare assistance, with an additional ₹45 crore maintained as a fixed deposit. These resources would benefit eligible workers in the future, he said. Through the Tamil Nadu Sanitation Workers Welfare Board, 21 sanitation workers were provided assistance to the tune of ₹81,000 during the event. In the last one year in Cuddalore district, welfare assistance worth ₹6.81 lakh was given to about 38 workers that included educational assistance, death compensation and safety gears. He emphasised that Welfare Board card was a vital prerequisite for receiving government assistance and urged the workers, especially those who were not registered yet, to apply with Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation office.
