M. Maheshwar Rao | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT Greater Bengaluru Authority Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao on Wednesday instructed the formation of a dedicated task forces in all five city corporations to monitor road-widening projects and check unauthorised construction activities. Mr. Rao pointed out the need to resolve operational challenges that arise during the implementation of works across the five city corporations. Facial recognition attendance The GBA has also introduced a facial recognition-based attendance system for pourakarmikas across the city. The implementation is under way in all city corporations, with progress in the Central City Corporation. The officials have been instructed to ensure the system is fully operational across the GBA area within the next two weeks. The GBA chief also directed the officials to prepare a list of ongoing Railway Department projects for review, followed by a meeting with the GBA to expedite progress. During the review meeting, the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) was asked to ensure adequate water supply for firefighting, install five-lakh-liter capacity water tanks in select areas, and establish a Fire Control Room within the GBA. He also asked the officials to immediately commence widening at Tannery Road, completion of junction development under the ‘Suraksha-75’ project, initiation of multi-level car parking works and standardisation of signboard designs.
