Devotee inconvenience

The Meenakshi Amman Temple draws thousands of devotees and tourists from across the country every day, resulting in long queues for both paid and free darshan. However, the absence of adequate seating arrangements forces devotees to stand for long periods, causing considerable discomfort.

There is also no separate or fast-track queue for senior citizens, pregnant women and children, adding to their hardship.

In addition, the deployment of staff appears inadequate to manage the crowds effectively.

I request the authorities concerned to address these issues at the earliest in the interest of devotees.

Road encroachment

The main road in Tirunagar, though reasonably wide, has become highly congested in recent times due to haphazard parking of vehicles along the carriageway. This obstructs the smooth flow of traffic and causes considerable inconvenience to pedestrians.

The traffic police should take appropriate measures to regulate parking and ease congestion.

Route confusion

TNSTC bus route No. 48 AD, which operates between Tirumangalam and Arapalayam in Madurai, serves a large number of commuters and follows two routes—via Guru Theatre and via Arasaradi. However, some buses on this route do not indicate in advance which route they will take, leaving passengers confused.

Many commuters assume the bus will go via Guru Theatre, only to realise later that it is proceeding through Arasaradi, causing inconvenience and difficulty in planning their onward travel.

The TNSTC authorities should ensure proper route indication on all buses to avoid such hardship to passengers.
