The Hyderabad Police said that the SHE Teams resolved 1,149 complaints and apprehended 3,826 persons for various forms of harassment during 2025, as the specialised wing intensified action against offences including digital blackmail, cyberstalking and public place harassment. Reiterating that women’s safety remains a priority, Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said offenders should not assume that anonymity or technology would shield them from the law and that every complaint would be pursued with seriousness and confidentiality. According to the police, blackmail emerged as the most common cyber-related offence, with 366 victims approaching the SHE Teams after being threatened with the misuse of private photographs or recorded video calls, often by persons they had befriended on social media or by former partners. The data also showed 121 cases of midnight harassment through internet calls and 82 cases involving fake profiles and circulation of obscene content. Forensic and technical analysis was used to trace unidentifiable numbers and online accounts in several cases, police said. The SHE Teams further handled 98 cases in which women alleged exploitation under the pretext of marriage. Counselling was provided to the victims and criminal proceedings were initiated against the accused. Apart from complaint-based action, 15 SHE Teams working in plain clothes carried out surveillance and decoy operations at bus stations, colleges and other crowded public places. While most of those apprehended were counselled along with their family members, serious cases led to registration of cases, arrests and judicial custody, the police said. The Hyderabad Police have urged women to report any form of harassment without fear, assuring confidentiality and prompt response. Citizens can contact the emergency number 100 or reach out to the SHE Teams through their dedicated helpline and WhatsApp services, police added.
