Bengaluru-based Hical Technologies has launched Corporate Commute, an integrated digital solution aimed at encouraging employees to shift to public transport for daily travel.

The initiative has been rolled out in partnership with mobility platform Tummoc as part of the Station Access and Mobility Program (STAMP) Nudge Innovation Challenge.

The STAMP challenge is led by WRI India and the Toyota Mobility Foundation, with support from industry and transport stakeholders including ELCIA, ELCITA, BMRCL, and BMTC. The programme seeks to increase metro and bus usage among corporate employees, particularly those working along high-density employment corridors.

Announcing the initiative, Soumya Venkatesh, Sustainability Head, Hical, said, “Corporate Commute is designed to make sustainable commuting easier through digital onboarding, automated eligibility checks and direct incentives linked to public transport usage. Employees can plan routes, purchase metro tickets or bus passes and track rewards through a single interface, while employers can monitor participation, incentive utilisation and estimated carbon savings.”

Boardings cross 10.8 lakh

According to the BMRCL, the Bengaluru metro has seen a steady rise in ridership following the launch of the Yellow line. It contributed to daily boardings crossing 10.8 lakh in August 2025. “With the Pink and Blue Lines under development, digital integration by the BMRCL including QR-based ticketing, mobile applications and multi-mode payment systems will make the metro more attractive to daily commuters, especially those employed in the IT sector,” Yashwanth Chavan, chief public relations officer of the BMRCL said.

Incentives & How it Works

Kickstart support: Wallets will be pre-loaded with ₹800 for 50 selected employees to buy metro tickets and bus passes.

Cashback pool: ₹550 available as 10% cashback on every metro ride until the pool is exhausted.

Top performers: Top five on the leaderboard receive additional incentives up to ₹1,000/month based on rank.

Easy access: Employees link their work email IDs to a business profile on their existing Tummoc account (or create a new one and link the ID).

As part of the pilot phase, the Hical will provide commuting incentives to a selected group of 50 employees. Wallets will be pre-loaded with ₹800 for purchasing metro tickets and bus passes, along with a cashback pool offering 10% returns on metro rides. Additional monthly incentives of up to ₹1,000 will be awarded to top performers on a leaderboard that tracks rides taken and estimated carbon emissions saved.

Tummoc, which operates as a Mobility-as-a-Service platform for this initiative, enables end-to-end trip planning across metro, bus and last-mile options such as autorickshaws, bikes and cabs.

Visible impact

Srinivas Alavilli, Fellow, WRI India, said, “The pilot demonstrates how targeted incentives and visible impact metrics can accelerate a shift towards public transport in major employment hubs. The partners will assess uptake, last-mile choices and user engagement during the pilot before evaluating the potential for scaling the model across other companies and metro stations in Bengaluru.”
