The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has demanded election officials to publish the names of voters on the ‘logical discrepancy’ list in connection with the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral roll.

MLA and KPCC vice-president Mathew Kuzhalnadan has handed over a letter to Chief Electoral Officer (Kerala) Rathan U. Kelkar in this regard. The move comes against the backdrop of the Supreme Court on Monday asking the Election Commission of India (EC) to display the names of voters in West Bengal on the ‘logical discrepancy’ list.

Mr. Kuzhalnadan sought the “transparent publication or disclosure of both the non-mapping list and the logical discrepancy list to recognised political parties/booth-level agents (BLA), to avoid confusion and speculation.”

This was crucial to instil confidence in the SIR process and to dispel apprehensions. Further, voters should be intimated clearly about the exact nature of the logical discrepancy flagged in their cases, the letter said.

The spirit and substance of the Supreme Court’s directions underscore a core democratic principle —the right to vote for all genuine voters, he said. “The court’s insistence on transparency in ‘logical discrepancy’ cases assumes great relevance as, as it stands now, such discrepancies are often illogical, overly technical, and beyond the common sense of ordinary voters,” he said.
