British Deputy High Commissioner Gareth Wynn Owen, who oversees the United Kingdom’s affairs in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, paid a courtesy call on Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana in Amaravati on Tuesday.

The meeting was also attended by V.R. Srinivas, Managing Director of the Amaravati Growth and Infrastructure Corporation (AG&IC).

During the interaction, Mr. Narayana briefed the visiting diplomat the progress of construction and development works being undertaken in the capital city of Amaravati.

The Minister outlined the State government’s vision for the planned capital and the phased execution of key infrastructure projects aimed at transforming Amaravati into a modern, sustainable and globally competitive city. He highlighted ongoing works and future plans, including large-scale urban infrastructure, mobility networks and public amenities.

Mr. Owen expressed keen interest in Amaravati’s development and assured Mr. Narayana that the U.K. government would work in coordination with the Andhra Pradesh government in the city’s growth and infrastructure initiatives. He particularly evinced interest in projects such as riverfront development and the proposed International Sports City, noting their potential to enhance Amaravati’s global profile.

The discussions also touched upon possibilities for collaboration in urban planning, infrastructure development and investment.
