’Padavu 2026’, the State Ksheera Sangamam and dairy expo organised by the Department of Dairy Development will be held from January 18 to 21 at the Asramam Ground and Younus Convention Centre in Kollam. The programme is being held in collaboration with Milma, Kerala Feeds, the Kerala Livestock Development Board, the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, the Animal Husbandry department, dairy cooperative societies, and the Kerala Dairy Farmers’ Welfare Fund Board. South India’s largest dairy expo featuring over 150 stalls will be major highlight.

The event begins on January 18 with the inauguration by Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development J. Chinchurani, followed by the official inauguration by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on January 19, where main awards including Dr. Verghese Kurien Award will be distributed. Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal will present the Dairy Sahakari Awards for the Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, and Malabar regions. Transport Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar will honor the local self-government institutions that spent the most funds or implemented innovative projects in the dairy sector during the 2024-25 financial year.

Various programmes including a seminar on innovative cattle feeding methods and breeding techniques titled ‘Innovative Tools in Dairy Management’, a session introducing the possibilities of dairy business titled ‘Dairy Entrepreneurship—Endless Possibilities’, ‘Science in the Village’ where dairy farmers share their scientific discoveries, an LSGD workshop, a seminar on digitalisation in the dairy sector, a media workshop on the topic ‘New Media and Ethics’, perspectives from former directors of the Dairy Development department, and a ‘Face-to-Face’ programme involving experts will be part of the expo.

Ministers, MPs, MLAs, scientific and technical experts, and consumers will participate in the event. Around five thousand dairy cooperative members and ten thousand dairy farmers are expected to attend the four-day programme.
