A free public science lecture titled ‘Imaging the Corona of the Sun Without Waiting for an Eclipse’ will be held at 10.30 a.m. on Sunday (January 18) at the Priyadarshini Planetarium. David Berghmans, renowned solar physicist from the Royal Observatory of Belgium, will deliver the lecture. Dr. Berghmans will focus on modern scientific methods that enable researchers to observe and image the sun’s corona – the outermost layer of the sun’s atmosphere – without having to wait for rare total solar eclipses. The event is jointly organised by the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala State Science and Technology Museum (KSSTM), Thiruvananthapuram, Aastro Kerala, and the Breakthrough Science Society, Thiruvananthapuram Chapter. Entry is free.
