K. Sudhakar, MP for Chikkaballapur, has written to the National Commission for Women (NCW) seeking urgent intervention over alleged verbal abuse and threats issued to Sidlaghatta City Municipal Commissioner Amrutha Gowda by Congress leader Rajeev Gowda.

In his letter to the NCW chairperson, Mr. Sudhakar termed the incident “deeply troubling” and said it reflected an alarming disregard for the dignity of women officers in public administration.

The complaint refers to a purported audio clip, widely circulated in the district, in which Mr. Rajeev Gowda, a KPCC State coordinator and former Sidlaghatta Assembly candidate, is heard hurling abuses at the Commissioner after officials removed an allegedly unauthorised banner from a public road.

Dr. Sudhakar said such behaviour from a political functionary entrusted with public responsibility was unacceptable and constituted “an affront to constitutional propriety, civil service dignity, and gender justice”.

The MP urged the Commission to take suo motu cognisance of the case and seek a detailed report from the State government on the incident and the action taken. He urged the NCW to direct the Chief Secretary to ensure a fair investigation without political interference.
