President Droupadi Murmu participated in a fire altar ‘mahayagna’ of Lord Hanuman, organised by the Ramanand Mission at Nindar Housing Scheme near Harmada, on the outskirts of Jaipur, on Friday (January 16, 2026). The religious event has been underway since January 8 under the guidance of spiritual leader Rambhadracharya.

Ms. Murmu chanted mantras, offered final oblations and prayed for peace, prosperity and well-being of the country and Rajasthan. Accompanied by Governor Haribhau Bagade and Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Ms. Murmu circumambulated the ‘yagnashala’ (ritual enclosure).

The President also attended the Ram Katha at the venue. She met and greeted Mr. Rambhadracharya on the occasion. According to Ramanand Mission’s organising committee, the objective of holding the mahayagna was to awaken spiritual consciousness in the society.

Ms. Murmu was welcomed with traditional rituals and a large number of devotees were present. Mr. Sharma said such events promote social harmony and spiritual awareness.

Earlier, Mr. Bagade, Mr. Sharma and Deputy Chief Ministers Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa received Ms. Murmu on her arrival by an Indian Air Force aircraft at Sanganer airport here.
