Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reaffirmed his government’s resolve to develop the erstwhile Adilabad district in all spheres saying a university will be set up at IIIT-Basar in Nirmal district and an industrial corridor will be developed in Adilabad district.

He reiterated that a barrage will be constructed at Tummidihatti under the Pranahita-Chevella project in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. Underscoring the need for collective endeavour for development of the State above political lines, he vowed to set the erstwhile composite Adilabad district on the path of development on par with the erstwhile Mahabubnagar (Palamuru) district.

“I am ready to meet anyone, umpteen number of times, in the interests of the State’s development,” he asserted. The Chief Minister was addressing a public meeting in Nirmal late on Friday afternoon.

Earlier in the day, he inaugurated the pumphouse of Chanaka-Korata barrage across the Penganga river by releasing water into the main canal near Hathighat in Adilabad district. He also inaugurated the Sadarmat Barrage across Godavari river at Ponkal village in Nirmal district. He released water for the rabi crops amid a festive-like atmosphere at the Sadarmat Barrage.

Minister for Irrigation N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Minister for Excise and Prohibition Jupally Krishna Rao accompanied the Chief Minister.

Mr. Reddy slammed the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government for failing to secure development projects from the Centre. He alleged that the old undivided Adilabad district was meted out a raw deal in irrigation and other vital sectors by the apathetic BRS regime during its nearly decade-long rule.

“I will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi or anyone for the development of Telangana. I, along with my cabinet colleagues, met the Prime Minister and Union Ministers several times in New Delhi for the sanction of funds for various development projects in the State,” he said.

“We got approval for development of airports at Mamnoor near Warangal and in Adilabad following our sustained efforts,” he said, rebutting the BRS criticism of their meetings in New Delhi. “There is no personal agenda behind such meetings and the sole purpose is to steer the State on the path of development,” he added.

The BJP MLAs and MPs should also strive to get development projects and funds from the Centre, he said, adding, “Let us invite the Prime Minister for the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Adilabad airport.” The Chief Minister announced sanction of an Advanced Technology Centre in Nirmal and ₹22 crore for the development of the Naboga jatara site in Adilabad district.
