The Hindu in School Science Festival and Ramanujam Spark Quest, held at Royale Apollo International School in Hassan on January 16, received a good response.

Nearly 100 teams of students from classes 6 to 10 from various schools in Hassan district took part. They exhibited their projects with enthusiasm and were well prepared to answer questions related to their models. Many of the projects were related to waste management, disaster management, renewable energy, and rainwater harvesting. A few students presented models designed to avoid disasters using censors.

T.C. Taranath, Vice-Chancellor of Hassan University, who inaugurated the festival, appreciated the projects presented by students. Prof. Taranath, an expert in environmental biology, interacted with a few students, particularly those who presented models related to waste management and disaster management. Acknowledging students’ efforts, he suggested they develop their ideas further and aim to acquire patents in later stages of their careers.

In his inaugural speech, Prof. Taranath appealed to students to choose their career paths considering their strengths and weaknesses. The coming generations have many opportunities to explore, and they need to upgrade their skills and knowledge to pursue a career of their choice.

B. Pushparaj, academic director of Excellent Moodubidire, said that his institution has been encouraging students who wish to study basic science, apart from those who wish to pursue professional courses.

L.P. Ravi Kumar, CEO of Royale Apollo International, and others were present. A team of professors, comprising Vijay S., Shivakumar P., Prashanth Kumar, Latha Kulkarni, Ranjit C.
