RAJANNA SIRCILLA The historic Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada is being developed under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revantha Reddy to improve pilgrim amenities aligned with the aspirations of ordinary devotees, said Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development D. Anasuya (Seethakka). The minister was in Vemulawada on Friday to offer prayers at Bheemeshwaralayam and Baddi Pochamma temples, near the main temple of Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy, which is undergoing renovation. Speaking to reporters, she said the tradition of offering ‘mokkulu’ to the presiding deity of Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada before Medaram (Sammakka Saralamma) Jatara has been in vogue from time immemorial. The renovated Sammakka-Sarakka temple, dedicated to most revered tribal deities, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at Medaram in Mulugu district on January 19, 2026. The State Cabinet meeting will be held under the aegis of Chief Minister at Medaram on January 18. The Medaram Maha Jatara is scheduled to be held from January 28 to 31, 2026. The Chief Minister’s initiative to renovate the nearly 1000-year-old historic site at the tribal heartland of Medaram will help preserve the most revered spot for posterity, she remarked. Earlier, Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Adi Srinivas received the minister on her arrival at the temple.
