The stir against toll collection at the Kumbala-Arikkady toll plaza would continue, protesters announced on Wednesday. The decision followed a meeting between District Collector K. Inbasekar and five MLAs from the district, which ended without any agreement. Officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) maintained that toll collection could not be stopped, and it would continue under the existing system. Meanwhile, the protest by Manjeswaram MLA A.K.M Ashraf near the Kumbala toll gate entered the second day on Wednesday. The protesters said the agitation would continue until the issues affecting commuters were resolved.
