The police are on the lookout for three persons, who extorted ₹2,000 and a mobile phone from a college student, by holding him at knife point, at Eachanari near Coimbatore late on Monday. J. Prince Broona (19) of Panjampatti in Dindigul district, a second year engineering student of a private college, stated in his complaint that three unknown persons barged into his rented room at Eachanari around 10 p.m. The strangers, according to the student, held him at knife point and extorted ₹2,000 and a mobile phone from him. The student lodged a complaint with the Sundarapuram police on Tuesday. The police registered a case for extortion and launched an investigation.
