Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said on Wednesday that the party’s expectation of sharing power with alliance partner was not unusual. “However, right now, it [sharing power] is not a sticking point. The priority is to contest in maximum possible seats and emerge victorious,” the Congress MP told media persons in Coimbatore. The Congress party has missed opportunities to assume power in Tamil Nadu since 1967. The party (this time around) expects to get realistic number of seats in the alliance, he said. The purported power-play behind the release of Jana Nayagan and Parasakthi movies was irrelevant, he said. “Of course, Vijay’s TVK has drawn people’s interest. But conversion of the support into votes and seats is not a certainty. Giving importance to narratives set by movies amounts to trivialising politics,” he said adding: “There is no need to ban any movie. People know what should be taken seriously.” Published – January 14, 2026 07:53 pm IST Share this: Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Click to share on Threads (Opens in new window) Threads Click to share on X (Opens in new window) X Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email More Click to print (Opens in new window) Print Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window) Pocket Click to share on Mastodon (Opens in new window) Mastodon Click to share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window) Nextdoor Click to share on Bluesky (Opens in new window) Bluesky Like this:Like Loading...
