Tamil Nadu CM Stalin takes part in Pongal celebrations at the Secretariat in Chennai on Wednesday

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday (January 14, 2026) took part in Pongal celebrations, along with government staff, on the Secretariat campus in Chennai.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Stalin underlined the role of officials in implementing various welfare programmes for the people. He extended his Pongal wishes to them. In his Pongal message, issued as a statement, he listed out some of his government’s welfare measures, and further said he has taken a vow to fulfil all the needs of the people of Tamil Nadu by 2030.

“You have wholeheartedly decided that this government should continue in the form of Dravidian Model 2.0,” Mr. Stalin said. He said his government had undertaken a healthy politics that prioritised education, healthcare, employment, environmental protection, peace, religious harmony, and equality.

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Ministers, and senior officials also took part in the function held at the Army Parade Ground on the Secretariat campus.

Governor’s greetings

In his Pongal greetings, Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi said: “As we celebrate this harvest festival, we express our deepest gratitude to Mother Earth and the Sun God for their abundant blessings that sustain our farms, nurture our families and shape our future.”

“We also salute our farming community, whose skill, devotion, and perseverance nourish the land and sustain life. We join in the spirit of Maatu Pongal, celebrating the sacred place of cattle at the heart of agriculture and rural life,” he said.
