Visiting time extended at Vandalur Zoo for Pongal holidays

The Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Vandalur, has extended visiting hours and scaled up arrangements for visitors on Mattu Pongal and Kaanum Pongal on January 16 and 17, anticipating high footfall during the festival.

The zoo will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. Designated parking space has been arranged for two-wheelers, cars and heavy vehicles, with 10 additional buses operating shuttle services from parking areas to the zoo. Visitors are encouraged to use digital ticketing through self-service kiosks, WhatsApp, the zoo’s website and mobile app, with only one counter available for cash bookings. 

All exhibits will remain open, and visitors are advised to maintain distance on narrow pathways. Around 100 police personnel, Forest Department staff, and volunteers will be deployed for crowd management. Wheelchairs and differently-abled-friendly pathways have been provided.
