Around 300 kg of compost generated from wet waste collected in the local ward was sold to residents in Hebbal on Tuesday, in an effort to promote in-ward waste management. The compost, suitable for plants and trees, was priced at ₹150 per kg, and the entire stock was purchased, officials from North City Corporation, who conducted the sale, said. The sale took place at the wet-waste processing unit in Dollar’s Colony. Officials said the initiative is part of the corporation’s push to treat wet waste locally, reduce the amount of garbage sent out of neighbourhoods, and encourage households to practice composting. Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar said that staff involved in solid waste management have been working on a daily basis to process organic waste and promote segregation among residents.
