The byelection to Onakkoor ward in Pampakuda panchayat in the district held on Monday witnessed a voter turnout of 81.74%. Out of the total of 1,183 voters, 965 cast their votes; 487 men and 478 women. The election had to be postponed due to the death of a candidate on polling day. The counting of votes will take place on Tuesday. Onnakoor was the only ward in the district where the election had to be rescheduled. The postponement was necessitated by the sudden death of UDF candidate C.S. Babu in the early hours of December 9, the polling day.
