The 50th India Tourism and Industrial Fair began with great fanfare at the Island Grounds in the city on Monday. Tourism Minister R. Rajendran, Health Minister Ma. Subramanian and Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments P.K. Sekarbabu inaugurated the 70-day-long fair, popularly called the Sutrula Porutkatchi. The fair that has 43 stalls showcasing the projects and functioning of various State government departments and, corporations, also has attractions like giant wheel and 3D show. Entry to the fair that will be open on working days from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on weekends and public holidays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. is ticketed. Adults will be charged ₹40 each, children between the ages of four and 10 will have to pay ₹25 each.
