As many as 28 people, including children, sought medical treatment at a family health centre at Edayar in Kadungalloor grama panchayat in a suspected case of food poisoning. Among those who fell ill, 22 are aged between eight and 15. The illness is believed to have been caused by suspected consumption of ice cream bought from a temporary stall set up as part of a church festival at Edayar. According to Health officials, the issue came to light after people sought treatment at the family health centre at Binannipuram, Edayar, on Monday (January 12). The festival was held on Sunday (January 11). The symptoms included vomiting and diarrhoea. The condition of those affected is reportedly stable, an official said. Samples of ice cream have been sent for tests at the food safety lab at Kakkanad.
