Students of the Vasireddy Venkatadri International Technological University (VVITU) organised the 15th edition of their annual interfaith unity walk, ‘Dargah to Durga’ (D-Walk), in Guntur on Monday.

The walk was flagged off at Hazrat Khaleesha Mastan Dargah by Guntur Traffic Deputy Superintendent of Police B. Srinivasa Rao and concluded at the Kanaka Durga temple in Vijayawada after covering nearly 33 km. The procession passed Jain temple and Dolas Nagar church en route.

Around 3,000 students, including National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets and National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, participated in the march. The students offered special prayers at temples and churches along the route.

Addressing the participants, VVITU-A.P. chancellor Vasireddy Vidyasagar said the programme, conducted uninterruptedly for the past 14 years, continued to inspire enthusiasm among students. He observed that the D-Walk instilled purpose, perseverance and clarity of intent, which were essential for achieving life goals.

Stating that the initiative nurtured unity, Mr. Vidyasagar urged students to draw inspiration from Swami Vivekananda, strengthen self-confidence and contribute meaningfully to nation-building through tolerance, empathy and social responsibility.
