The Silk Fab Handloom and Saree exhibition-cum-sale, which is currently under way at JSS Urban Haat on Outer Ring Road near Hebbal Industrial Area in Mysuru, will continue until January 17.

Organised by the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC), the exhibition-cum-sale coincides with Sankranti celebrations in the city.

The exhibition, which began on January 4, will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day until January 17. Entry is free for all visitors.

Organised in Mysuru for the second time, the exhibition-cum-sale offers a wide range of silk sarees, handloom products, and handicrafts from different parts of the country under one roof.

“The exhibition provides a rare opportunity for customers to purchase high-quality products at affordable prices directly from the weavers, without the involvement of middlemen. This year, more than 60 handloom weavers and artisans from across the country are participating, showcasing products from over 19 States,” said a press statement here.

“The exhibition features an extensive collection, including Karnataka silk and cotton sarees; bedsheets and floor coverings; pure Kanchipuram silk sarees; Tussar silk sarees from Bihar and Jharkhand; Kantha, Baluchari, and Batik sarees from West Bengal; Banarasi silk and Chikankari embroidered sarees from Uttar Pradesh; Chanderi and Maheshwari silk sarees from Madhya Pradesh; Sambalpuri, Ikat, and Bomkai sarees from Odisha; Pashmina shawls from Kashmir; Gadwal, Kalamkari, and Pochampally sarees from Andhra Pradesh; sarees from Chhattisgarh; furnishing products from Haryana; stoles and bedsheets from Manipur; sarees and dress materials from Maharashtra and Rajasthan; silk sarees and dress materials from Assam; and a wide variety of handcrafted items made by skilled artisans,” the statement added.

The organisers have invited the people of Mysuru and nearby regions to visit the Silk Fab Handloom and Saree exhibition-cum-sale and “experience the rich craftsmanship of Indian weavers, and purchase authentic, high-quality handloom products”.
