Joint Collector Adarsh Rajendran distributed eight electric autos (e-autos) to gram panchayats in the erstwhile Annamayya district under the Swarna Andhra–Swachh Andhra programme on Monday (January 12, 2026). The objective is to bolster rural sanitation and improve door-to-door waste collection.

The vehicles, sanctioned by the Swachh Andhra Corporation, were handed over to the respective panchayat officials. The vehicles are valued at ₹3.75 lakh each. They would play a crucial role in daily garbage collection, waste transportation, and scientific solid waste management in rural areas, the Joint Collector said.

The e-autos were allotted to Padamati Kona panchayat in Chinnamandem mandal, Obulavaripalli panchayat in Obulavaripalli mandal, Odividu panchayat in Veeraballi mandal, Pathegadda and Addavaripalli panchayats in Kalikiri mandal, Kotha Indlu panchayat in Madanapalle mandal, Parathopu panchayat in Thamballapalle mandal, and Sambepalli panchayat in Sambepalli mandal.

Addressing the panchayat officials and sanitation workers, the Joint Collector said that daily waste collection was critical for sustaining clean villages and preventing health hazards. He observed that the introduction of electric vehicles would not only improve sanitation outcomes but also reduce fuel costs and emissions in rural areas. Effective utilisation of the vehicles would significantly enhance hygiene standards in villages.

The official further urged the public to cooperate by segregating waste at the household level to ensure the success of the initiative.
