Virudhunagar district administration has appealed to the members of public to avoid burning waste materials made of rubber and plastics during Bogi to protect air quality and preserve the environment.

In a statement, Collector, N.O. Sukhaputra, said that burning plastic goods, clothes made of synthetic fabrics, rubber products, tyres and tubes, and chemical‑mixed goods would cause air pollution.

The obnoxious fumes emitted by burning those materials would lead to health issues for the people, like breathing difficulties and eye irritation. It could also cause severe inconvenience to vehicle users and lead to accidents, the statement said.
