9.5 kg of hydroponic weed seized from passenger at Madurai Airport

Air Intelligence Unit of Madurai Airport Customs on Monday seized 9.5 kg of hydroponic weed from a passenger who had arrived in Madurai from Bangkok through Colombo.

Acting on a specific intelligence, the sleuths of Customs intercepted the male passenger. The officials found that he had concealed it in chocolate packets in his check-in bag.

The narcotic substance is worth ₹9.5 crore. The passenger was arrested under the provisions of NDPS Act, 1985. Investigation is under way, a statement said.
