Murali Kumar The Bengaluru Traffic Police conducted a special enforcement drive between March 23 and March 29 targeting drunk driving and speeding across the city . The drive was carried out by personnel from all 53 traffic police stations, covering multiple key roads and junctions to enhance road safety and reduce violations. During the drive against drunk driving, a total of 42,642 vehicles were checked, leading to the registration of 616 cases against motorists found driving under the influence of alcohol. In a parallel crackdown on speeding, officials registered 279 cases, collecting fines amounting to ₹2.8 lakh from violators. Police officials said the initiative was aimed at curbing dangerous driving behaviour, and preventing accidents caused by rash driving. Authorities have warned that such special drives will continue in the coming weeks as part of a sustained effort to ensure safer roads in Bengaluru.
