Custom-made petrol scooters were distributed among 80 persons with disabilities (orthopaedic) in Tiruvarur on Monday. The beneficiaries were selected by the District Differently Abled Welfare Officer based on the applications received from the beneficiaries in Tiruvarur district. Specially modified three-wheeler scooters, each worth ₹1,01,800, were provided to the individuals, typically those aged 18 and above, students, self-employed or working in private organisations, according to an official release. Collector V. Mohanachandran, Nagapattinam MP V.Selvaraj and Tiruvarur MLA Poondi K. Kalaivanan gave away the vehicles to the beneficiaries at a programme.
