Virudhunagar district unit of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption has booked eight persons, including two former Executive Officers of Mamsapuram town panchayat, on charges of embezzling ₹32.78 lakh from the urban local body in the guise of having bought spare parts and undertaking repair works in water supply system and street lights in 2022-23. The first information report registered on February 17 has named the then Executive Officer of Mamsapuram Town panchayat, Manikandan and Ushagracy and other employees of the urban local body, Sathiyamoorthi (electrician), Dhilipan and Pilliyar (Junior Assistant), Karthik (Health Worker), Murugesan (Electrical Assistant) and one Veerandi, who was running an electrical company.
