The robbers took gold rings, chains, other ornaments, and ₹50,000 cash during the robbery on January 27, 2026. | Photo Credit: Photo for representation only The Madanayakanahalli police have arrested five persons in connection with a robbery at a jewellery store in Bengaluru. They have recovered gold ornaments and weapons worth ₹2.50 lakh. The accused are: Ankithnath, 30, a kachori–samosa vendor Anoop Singh, 30, who works in a garment shop Ravi Rao, 28, makes silver jewellery Anop Ram, waiter in a hotel Arun Jayaram, 31, mason All the accused are from Rajasthan and stay in the different parts of Bengaluru, the police said. According to police, the robbery took place on January 27 at a jewellery and banker’s shop in Dasanapura village under Madanayakanahalli police station limits. The shop-owner lodged a complaint stating that three unidentified persons entered the store when he was in the shop along with his sons. One of the accused allegedly engaged the shop-owner in conversation by showing jewellery designs on a mobile phone while another entered the shop and pulled out a pistol, threatening those inside. They were joined by a third accused. The accused fled from the spot with gold rings, chains, other ornaments, and ₹50,000 cash. A case was registered at Madanayakanahalli police stationup. During the probe, police found a mobile phone left behind by the accused in the shop. Based on technical analysis and credible information, the first accused was arrested near a garment shop at Kothanur on February 1. He was produced in court on February 2 and remanded to police custody for 12 days. Further interrogation led to the arrest of another accused on February 3 near Kempegowda bus stand. He was remanded to police custody for 11 days. Subsequent investigation revealed the involvement of four more persons. On February 6, three accused were arrested near Jodhpur in Rajasthan and produced in court on February 7. They were remanded to police custody for seven days. Based on information provided by the accused, police seized one pistol, two live rounds, three empty magazines, four mobile phones, one two-wheeler used in the crime, and 9.1 grams of gold ornaments. The total value of the seized property is estimated at ₹2.50 lakh. Police said further investigation is under way to trace the sixth accused.
