The State government will open 44 direct paddy procurement centres in the district for the 2025–26 procurement season to purchase paddy cultivated by farmers in the Thadapalli–Arakkankottai ayacut areas. In a press release, Collector S. Kandasamy said the centres would be operated by the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation to enable farmers to sell their produce directly to the government.
