A total of 44 candidates have filed their nominations in the three Assembly segments in The Nilgiris. According to officials, a total of 13 candidates have filed their nominations in Udhagamandalam Assembly segment, where the frontrunners are the BJP’s M. Bhojarajan and the Congress’ B. Ramachandran. They are expected to face stiff competition from Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate, R. Ibrahim. In Gudalur, the incumbent MLA, AIADMK’s Pon Jeyaseelan will go up against the DMK’s two-time MLA from Gudalur, M. Thiravidamani. TVK’s Deepak Sai Kishore, and Naam Tamilar Katchi’s R. Karthikeyan will be dark horses in the races. A total of 14 people have filed their nominations in Gudalur, officials stated. In Coonoor, 17 people have filed their nominations, with the AIADMK’s Shanthi A. Ramu set to battle it out with the DMK’s K. M. Raju.
