Forty-two individuals were booked for indulging in indecent behaviour at public places during 138 decoy operations carried out by the Cyberabad She Teams during week-long enforcement and rescue operations by the Women and Child Safety Wing. The teams also received 27 complaints from women through various channels and initiated follow-up action. Announcing the week’s action from January 24 to January 30, DCP Srujana Karanam said that the safety of women and children remained top priority and that multiple coordinated measures had been undertaken on the ground. Under Operation Smile-XII, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit registered 110 cases under the Juvenile Justice and Child Labour laws and rescued 352 children from across the Cyberabad commissionerate limits. Of those rescued, 340 were boys and 12 were girls. Authorities said family counselling centres and Centre for Development and Empowerment of Women (CDEW) also played a key role in addressing domestic disputes, helping reunite 22 estranged couples after mediation and counselling. Alongside enforcement, officials conducted large-scale awareness programmes on human trafficking, child trafficking, child marriage, child labour, harassment of women, online abuse, stalking, begging and cyber fraud. A total of 5,821 people were sensitised through these outreach efforts. During these sessions, the public was educated about the importance of emergency and support services including the women’s helpline 181, child helpline 1098, Dial 100 and the cybercrime helpline 1930. Police said the drives would continue with a mix of surveillance, rescue, counselling and public awareness to create safer public spaces for women and children.
