The Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited has laid nearly 30 km of insulated power cables across coconut orchards to prevent frequent short-circuits that disrupt power supply in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district. Reviewing the works with APEPDCL and district officials, District Collector R. Mahesh Kumar said insulated cables would be installed for a total length of 80 km in coconut-growing areas across the district to ensure uninterrupted supply. On the implementation of the Prime Minister Surya Ghar scheme, Mr. Mahesh Kumar said solar panels would be provided to 4,500 Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes families in the district. Families with monthly power consumption below 200 units are eligible for free rooftop solar panels, which are expected to be installed by the end of February. Meanwhile, APEPDCL Executive Engineer B. Rajeswari said that 30% of the construction of the 400 KV power grid station at Ainavalli has been completed.
