The Government Railway Police have recovered 30 kg of ganja from a train that arrived here from West Bengal on Wednesday. When the Purulia – Tirunelveli Express Train reached Tirunelveli Junction around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Sub-Inspector Mariappan and Head Constable Avudaiyappan checked the coaches. During the inspection, they recovered a suitcase from coach S-5 with 30 Kg of ganja, worth ₹20 lakh. Since the rail traverses Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, the police suspect that the smugglers might have brought ganja from these places and left the suitcase after noticing the police conducting random checking at the railway station. Further investigations are on.
