As many as 26,57,478 voters in 13 constituencies are expected to exercise their franchise in Kozhikode district for the Assembly polls scheduled for April 9. District Collector Snehil Kumar Singh told the media on Monday (March 16, 2025) that the election code of conduct has already come into force. There are 13,59,102 female voters, 12,98,343 male voters, and 33 transgenders. The number of expatriate voters is 57,679 and new voters in the 18-19 age group is 56,127. There will be 2,837 voting centres. Mr. Singh said that 39 flying squads, three in each constituency, have been formed to inspect the spending of funds by the candidates and check if efforts are being to influence the voters through various means. There will be nine static surveillance teams and 13 video surveillance teams as well. Prohibitory orders have been issued in the district. All those who hold licensed weapons should surrender them in the nearest police stations. Meanwhile, Mr. Singh also held a meeting with the representatives of major political parties and sought their cooperation for the peaceful conduct of the elections.
