The Mahila Court here has awarded 25 years imprisonment to a youth for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a teen girl. According to prosecution, Sumesh, 33, of Cheranmahadevi in the district kidnapped a 17-year-old girl in the guise of marrying her and sexually assaulted the minor girl in 2022. Based on the complaint from the victim’s father, the Cheranmahadevi All Women Police registered a case under the POCSO Act and arrested him.
