In a drive against illegal immigrants and foreigners overstaying their visas, the Bengaluru city police on Friday arrested 200 foreign nationals, including 124 alleged Bangladeshi nationals.

Four teams of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) launched a targeted operation in east Bengaluru’s Varthur and Kadugodi in the early hours of Friday. During the raid, the police detained 124 alleged Bangladeshi nationals, including 48 men, 42 women, and 34 children, who had reportedly taken shelter in makeshift sheds.

Police officials said the individuals are currently being questioned. A report has been submitted to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for further legal action, including deportation proceedings.

The operation was also assisted by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, the Greater Bengaluru Authority, and the Department of Social Welfare. The police said the drive will be intensified in the coming days.
