Two persons were arrested and remanded in police custody in Pune on Monday for allegedly assaulting a truck driver and forcing him to eat cow dung on March 6. The duo was among three alleged cow vigilantes against whom an FIR was registered at the Ambegaon police station on Sunday evening in connection with the incident, the police said. According to the police, Akash Manikam, Hemant Gaikwad, and Viraj Sule intercepted the truck carrying buffaloes near Ambegaon on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway. The trio accused the truck driver of transporting the buffaloes using forged documents and assaulted him, the police said.
