Police recovered 1.833 kg of diamond and gold ornaments, collectively valued at around ₹3 crore, from the house of accused in Rajasthan. | Photo Credit: Illustration by Satheesh Vellinezhi Bengaluru police have arrested a notorious burglar from Rajasthan who allegedly targeted locked houses at night to steal valuables. Police seized diamond and gold ornaments worth about ₹3 crore from the accused. The arrested man has been identified as Vallaram Meena alias Sunil (19), a native of Salumbar district in Rajasthan. According to the police, Sethu Mahadeva, a resident of R.T. Nagar, lodged a complaint with the Yelahanka police on February 16. In his complaint, he stated that his relative lives in a house at Judicial Layout, Yelahanka, and her husband works as a software developer in the United States. Police said the woman used to travel to the U.S. once every six months. Taking advantage of the locked house, the accused allegedly broke open the terrace door on the night of February 15, entered the house, and stole diamond and gold ornaments. Based on the complaint, Yelahanka police registered a case and launched an investigation. During the probe, police gathered technical and local intelligence inputs, and traced the accused to Managiri village under Gingla police station limits in Rajasthan. A special police team travelled to Rajasthan and arrested the accused on February 18. During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to the crime and revealed that he had kept the stolen jewellery in his residence. Acting on the information, police recovered 1.833 kg of diamond and gold ornaments, collectively valued at around ₹3 crore, from his house.
